Symptoms of compassion fatigue and how Cranial Nerve Sequencing can help

Compassion Fatigue happens to us humans because we care for living beings who have been or are being traumatized.

It’s a modern phrase for a sadness as old as the hills. Anyone who has a heart will experience it at some point, especially those of us in the caring professions. It’s not just exhaustion.

The basic symptoms of compassion fatigue, also known as empathy fatigue or secondary trauma, are:

  • Feeling helpless, powerless, numb, or angry all the time
  • Having decreased pleasure in things we used to love that helped us rebound from stress
  • Losing track of our own bodies and boundaries

The symptoms of compassion fatigue seem normal to me. We run from the pain, numb out, or strike out in anger when people we care for are suffering – if we don’t have a solution that is accessible to us in our distress.

Focusing on aspects of your physical experience that are pleasant or “in flow” is one simple solution. The felt experience of your body is a pre-verbal, refreshing stream you can dip into at any time, if you know how.

This weeks video shows you, for example, how cranial nerve 1 (the olfactory nerve) links directly into your limbic system, the site of emotional memory. You can connect with it simply by breathing! I also talk about why the simplicity of what I do is different from and foundational to other forms of embodiment.

As we emerge from our second COVID winter, some of us are “doing well.” Some of us are not. Some of us are both. All of us care, even when we try not to, because it’s our nature. Almost everyone I know (including skilled embodiment professionals), is on edge.

However, the planet is still alive! Spring is here, and now we must emerge from our caves and deal with each other. Take it easy and slow, friends. We do have the capacity to manifest new, positive ways to accept the ongoing crisis and work through the very real symptoms of compassion fatigue.

Cranial Nerve Sequencing is one way to care for ourselves and those we love, one nerve at a time.

I’m very excited to be starting a year long workshop cycle that will cover all 12 cranial nerves. Information is below, and you can register for the first workshop right now! And if you need support for growing your business during this very difficult time, I have several spots open in my two ONGOING MASTERMIND GROUPS. Please book a free interview to find out if it’s right for you.
