Welcome. You have come to the right place. You’ve taken the first step towards resolving the underlying cause of these problems, not just treating the separate symptoms. You deserve to feel comfortable, safe, and mobile in your body.

You’ll enjoy the experience, but you’ll also learn how and why each step-by-step practice works and exactly how to apply it in your life. This magic learning process is where the real change happens in your life.

To use your body well, you need to know it well. You will be surprised at how much fun learning about it can be, and just how adaptable, mobile, responsive, and smart your own body is. Aches and pains go away as you learn to trust your own physical intelligence. So many problems get resolved when a learning relationship with your own body is restored.

But once you get relief, you also need to undo all the habits of movement that you built around the pain. That’s a delicate process, and I want it to be empowering for you. I want you to understand the habit change process enough that you can practice it for the rest of your life whenever you need it, especially as your body ages and changes.

Learning about your body is healing in a way that diagnosis and treatment are not because you can do something any time you want and need to help yourself. You don’t have to wait for someone else to tell you what to do. That’s why Embodied Learning Systems will double the value of any medical or therapeutic interventions, and minimize the need for them in the long run.

Embodied Learning Systems has 5 layers that I use in my work with you as needed:

1. The Alexander Technique restores postural integrity and balance, cultivates a loving relationship to your body, and quickens the conscious mind without stress. Do you suspect that posture has something to do with your problems? You are right! Posture is how you support your body in relationship to gravity, and it’s a constant influence on you all day and all night. You might have been taught that posture is static, but it’s not.

Posture and movement have a profound effect on how you experience life. Your postural and movement systems calibrate all systems in your body, including breathing, circulation, digestion, and perception. Some of us have low postural tone, and some of us have too much, or too much in the wrong places because of pain or learned habits. With movement coaching we can sort it out for you!

2. Mobile Body Alignment Awareness prevents overwork and strain. Learn how to cultivate flexibility of attention to self and environment. Most of us are spending too much time in states of narrow, fixed focus and this affects how we feel in our bodies and how we move.

3. Mobile Body Alignment Dermatome Mapping: Free yourself from artificially imposed and restrictive postural ideas. All spinal (and some cranial) nerves carry sensation from a particular area of skin to the brain. Learning this beautiful map experientially refreshes your body image, activates the central nervous system with calm and ease through contact with your skin, and establishes an expansive three-dimensional sense of wholeness that integrates easily into your movement.

4. Mobile Body Alignment Points: Free yourself from self-consciousness and come alive in space. Each of the 17 points awakens delicate, detailed awareness of the separate parts of the body, restores the pleasure of motion, expands your movement range, and awakens your spatial intelligence. You start to connect the inner felt experience of your body with an aliveness to your surroundings.

5. Mobile Body Alignment Cranial Nerve Sequencing: Improve underlying breathing patterns, decrease eye strain, improve your voice, posture, and digestion by relinquishing deep excess tension nerve by nerve. Journey through the sensory and motor functions of each cranial nerve and each sense organ in your skull and throat to activate a free and delicate articulation of head and spine, resetting overall coordination throughout your whole body. The process also rebalances your nervous system between excitation and calm. Sometimes you need more activation, sometimes you need less. Both are necessary for health and wellbeing.
