Aches, pains, and self-judging thoughts fade away as you learn to trust your own physical intelligence. So many problems get resolved when a learning relationship with your own body is restored. Scientific research is increasingly proving the efficacy of the Alexander Technique in helping relieve:

But once you get relief, you also need to undo all the habits of movement that you built around the pain. That’s a delicate but profoundly empowering process, and a skilled coach can save you much unecessary suffering and confusion!

When we work together you will understand the habit change process so well that you can practice it for the rest of your life whenever you need it, especially as your body ages and changes.

Learning about your body is healing in a way that diagnosis and treatment are not. You know how to take care of yourself, so you don’t have to wait for someone else to tell you what to do.

That’s why Embodied Learning Systems will double the value of any medical or therapeutic interventions, and minimize the need for them in the long run.

Embodied Learning Systems has 4 layers of practice depending on your challenges and needs:

1. The Alexander Technique: This 150 year old method for improving postural tone has many direct and indirect benefits. Posture is how you support your body in relationship to gravity, and it’s a constant influence on you all day and all night. It supports your movement and balance systems, and calibrates all other systems in your body such as breathing, circulation, digestion, and perception.

Some of us have low postural tone, and some of us have too much, or too much in the wrong places because of pain or learned habits. We can sort it out for you in private lessons.

2. The Awareness Preludes help you claim your own space with ease. Most of us are spending too much time in states of narrow, fixed focus. This creates excess tension that affects how we feel in our bodies, how we engage with others, and how we move. A more fluid and mobile attention creates an easy body.

The 7 Awareness Preludes will develop your attentional flexibility and resilience. You can practice them anywhere, anytime.

3. Mobile Body Alignment ™ Points help you apply the Alexander Technique principles in movement. The 17 points are easy to locate and anatomically very specific. They activate the spatial aspect of your kinesthetic sense and free you from flat and distorted self-perception.

This easy, moving awareness of your three dimensional body will free you from tension while you practicing specific movement forms such as yoga, tai chi, fitness, or dance. It will also be equally accessible in pedestrian movement and everyday activities.

4. Cranial Nerve Sequencing: This deeply somatic practice supports cognitive understanding of the Alexander Technique principles.

Learn a sequence of simple practices, one for each cranial nerve, that activate a free and delicate articulation of head and spine, resetting overall coordination throughout your whole body.

Balance activation and calm by learning the structure and function of all 12 cranial nerves, including the vagus. Improve your ability to feel your body, ease breathing patterns, decrease eye strain, free your natural voice, and relinquish deep, systemic tension nerve by nerve.
